Even without confirmation from Ultimate, the fight between Dustin poirier e Tony Ferguson remains high in the imagination of MMA fans. As it is a confrontation that could promote one of the athletes to compete for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg), the meeting is viewed favorably by sports enthusiasts. In an interview with 'UFC Unfiltered', 'Diamante' admitted that the duel is not yet official, but that he is already preparing for the clash.

“I don't have a contract yet. I saw Dana (White) talking about it. I know they want the fight on the same card as Khabib (Nurmagomedov) and (Justin) Gaethje. I’m just waiting to talk to them,” Poirier said.
Looking forward to participating in the UFC 254, on October 24th, which will guarantee the unification of the lightweight belt, Dustin confirmed that, even without a commitment to Ultimate, he has already started preparing for a possible fight against Ferguson, who is coming off a defeat to Gaethje.
“When the 'noise' started and they started talking about the fight, I booked my flight. I'm in Florida (USA) right now. I just did my wrestling prep a few hours ago. We're eight weeks away from the fight, so it's better to prepare than regret it. Dana knows my number. If we want to fight, I'm already here, training. If not, I'll go back to Louisiana (USA) and we'll see what happens”, said 'Diamante'.
Dustin hasn't performed since the battle against Dan Hooker, in June, when he defeated his rival in a unanimous decision by the judges. The American, who is currently number two in the division, remains one of the favorites to face the winner of Khabib and Gaethje.
