After injury to José Aldo (remember here), the UFC Rio 3 fight program has a new champion lined up. The Brazilian Anderson Silva, owner of the middleweight belt, moves up to the light heavyweight division and faces the North American Stephan bonnar, finalist in the first edition of TUF, the UFC reality show, in the United States. The fight was confirmed by UFC president, Dana White, in an interview with the newspaper “USA Today".
“We are back on track. Anderson Silva I wasn't scheduled to fight. I called him today, and he's recording a commercial in Brazil. Anderson Silva accepted, and Stephan bonnar wants to face him”, said White, who praised the attitude of Anderson and Minotauro, who also agreed to face Dave Herman in a hurry. “This is old-school UFC. A card is in danger, but guys who are world champions and superstars showed up, jumped in and saved the card. That’s why fans love this sport and why we had a 12-year streak without canceling an event”, added the director.
UFC 153, popularly known as UFC Rio 3, takes place on October 13th, at the HSBC Arena, in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. Check out the full event card below:
