Brazil is close to having another representative from the country in an Ultimate title fight. After Jennifer Maia's impeccable performance against Joanne Calderwood, this Saturday (1), at UFC Las Vegas 5, in the United States, the organization's president, Dana White, named the Paraná native as the next challenger for the flyweight belt (under 56,7kg).

“That’s the fight. I have a lot of respect for Jojo (Joanne). Jennifer looked amazing tonight. It makes sense for her and Valentina (Shevchenko) to fight”, confirmed the president in a press conference held after the show.

In the confrontation against Calderwood, Maia proved that she is capable of performing at a high level against opponents at the top of the category. Superior to the Scot both on the feet and on the ground, the Brazilian needed less than five minutes to submit her rival and confirm her place as the next challenger for the belt.

Moments after the meeting between Jennifer and Joanne, the champion used social media to, like Dana, express her interest in exchanging forces against the Brazilian.

Although all parties are in agreement, White does not yet have a date in mind for promoting the confrontation.
