José Aldo apologizes to fans for not fighting at UFC Rio 3

The Brazilian José Aldo suffered a foot injury and was forced to withdraw from the main fight of UFC Rio 3 (remember here), event that takes place on October 13th, in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. In his first statement after confirming the injury, the UFC featherweight champion was very upset and apologized to his fans for not defending his title at home for the second time in a row.

“My fans, I come to apologize to everyone for not fighting. I really wanted to, but I couldn't. I’m very sad,” wrote Aldo on his Twitter account.

Last September 1th, José Aldo suffered a motorcycle accident. The UFC champion was knocked down by a car, but had help from the driver. On that occasion, he injured his foot, but Ultimate did not confirm whether it was this injury that took him out of the event.

With the injury to José Aldo, Ultimate has not yet confirmed whether the former lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar, who would be the Brazilian's opponent, remains on the UFC Rio 3 card or will be transferred to another event.
