“People have been talking about Roy Jones Jr. versus Anderson Silva in a boxing match long before 'McGregor vs Mayweather'. We should have fought first. But unlike that fight, Anderson has professional boxing experience. McGregor hadn't. So, it would be a more competitive fight, especially with us being older”, said Roy in an interview with 'MMA Fighting'.

The fame that both have built in their respective sports would be enough to promote a great clash and would possibly bring a lot of engagement from MMA fans. Jones Jr. understands that 'Spider's' qualities as an athlete could surprise the expectations of many spectators.

“As he (Anderson) has experience, it would be easier for him to survive. He doesn't have a date against the young Tiger, Roy Jones Jr. He has a date against the older Roy Jones. He has a chance, because I'm much older than I ever was. It would still be a great event,” he concluded.

Roy is currently 51 years old and has not acted professionally since February 2018.

Anderson recently turned 45 years old. The fighter has not performed since the tough defeat he suffered against Jared Cannonier, in May of last year.
