Vitor belfort will have the chance to regain the light heavyweight belt at UFC 152, an event that takes place on September 22, in Toronto, Canada. But to get the title, which he won in 2005, the “Phenomenon” will have to defeat the beast Jon Jones, who according to Vitor, is the greatest fighter of all time.
“Here I am at 35 years old, 17 years into my MMA career, fighting against the greatest fighter of all time in the history of the UFC, the guy who is considered the best athlete in MMA. I have a lot of respect for this guy, but I'm ready for this fight and to take the competition to the highest level”, said the Brazilian in an interview with the program “ufc tonight".
The Brazilian, who has been fighting in the middleweight division and agreed to move up a category to return to light heavyweight, where he was already UFC champion in 2004, agreed to face Jones after the refusals of Lyoto Machida e Mauricio Shogun. Even with the difficult preparation time, Belfort never fails to thank his bosses for the opportunity to compete for the Ultimate belt.
“I am very grateful to Lorenzo (Fertitta, UFC majority owner) and Dana White (UFC president) for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I'm going to a division where I have a story. I think I have the right to be the substitute”, concluded the Brazilian.
