If he wins the bantamweight belt, José Aldo wants to defend his title in 2020

Brazilian says he intends to remain active in MMA and clarifies personal achievement if he defeats Petr Yan this Saturday

Close to the opportunity to make history and win a belt in a second category in Ultimate, José Aldo want more. Escalated to face Petr yan, this Saturday (11), for the vacant bantamweight title (up to 61,2kg.), the Brazilian stated that he intends to remain active in the organization and, in case of victory, defend the belt in 2020. In a press conference for 'Media Day ', held this Wednesday (8), with the participation of SUPER FIGHTS, the athlete spoke about the plans.

“If everything goes well on Saturday, we win, I already want to make the defense in October or November”, said the Brazilian.

For Aldo, this Saturday's appointment will have a special flavor. In addition to another opportunity to be among the UFC champions, the athlete sees the confrontation as the possibility of making history within MMA in general. Former featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg), the man from Manaus said that a triumph places him among the biggest names in the history of the sport.

“I think I must be among the three best of all time”, said the Brazilian, who then added, saying who would complete his ranking. “First, I put Georges (St.Pierre). Then, I can put one or the other, which is Anderson (Silva), or Jon Jones and then I come”, said Aldo.

Playing with the bantamweights since December last year, Aldo also spoke about negotiations with his coach, Dedé Pederneiras, about which division he would play in after deciding to leave the featherweight division. The Brazilian confessed that the division up to 61,2kg. It wasn't his priority.

“I had a meeting with Dedé. He told me that this was my right category (roosters). I said I wanted to move up (to the lightweight division – up to 70,3kg.). But I adapted very well. For my personal life it was very good. So I don't regret anything. I’m doing really well,” he concluded.

This weekend, the 'People's Champion' will reach the mark of 35 appearances as a professional in MMA. The athlete has 28 wins and six losses on his record.

Less experienced, Yan arrives for the fight with 15 fights in his career. With just one defeat in his career, the Russian has 14 positive results and has not lost in the UFC.
