The UFC featherweight division has a new star. The former lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar, announced that it is moving down a category and is already planning to debut in the new division soon. The information was disclosed by the fighter himself in an interview with the UFC Tonight program, on Tuesday night.
Frankie also announced that he intends to debut in the new division in 2012, where, in case of victory, he would already be one of the contenders for the category belt, which is in the Brazilian's possession José Aldo 2009 since.
In turn, before a possible duel against Edgar, the Brazilian champion already has another appointment scheduled. He faces Erik Koch at UFC 153, also called UFC Rio 3, on October 13, in the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
