Out of UFC 251 after testing positive for COVID-19, Gilbert Durinho revealed that he will support Kamaru Usman in the fight against Jorge masvidal this Saturday (11), for the welterweight belt (under 77kg.). Dreaming of a new opportunity to play for the title, the Brazilian explained his reasons for wanting the Nigerian to maintain his position as champion.

“I want Kamaru to win. First of all, I kind of like the guy. He used to be my training partner. If Masvidal wins, things are going to get crazy. It's going to be a circus in the category. Who will he face? I think he wants to fight Conor (McGregor) or maybe Nate diaz. I don't think the division will unfold properly. He's going to make a mess, another reason for me to root for Kamaru”, said the Brazilian in an interview with 'ESPN'.

Gilbert's concern cannot be readily dismissed, as, in a recent interview, Jorge admitted that, if he defeats Usman this Saturday, he intends to give Nate diaz to compete for the category belt. The North American also suggested a confrontation against Stephen Thompson, which represented his last career defeat, in November 2017.

Durinho earned the chance to fight for the title after four impressive victories since moving to welterweight. In his presentation, in May this year, the Brazilian defeated the former division champion, Tyron woodley, assuming the number one position in the ranking and main challenger for the belt.
