Challenger for the welterweight belt (up to 77kg.) in July, Gilbert Durinho suggested that the UFC adopt an impartial stance and remove Conor McGregor of the organization's rankings after the 'Notorious' to have announced his retirement from MMA. The Brazilian claims that the company adopts the same measure that was taken when Henry Cejudo hung up his gloves in May.

“Cejudo retired and they (board) removed him from the rankings very quickly. Let's do this with Conor too”, wrote Durinho on his Twitter account.

Currently, the Irishman is ranked in two UFC groups. The athlete occupies the fourth position among lightweights (up to 70,3kg) and is also part of the best weight-for-weight group in the organization, in eighth place.

Conor announced his retirement during the UFC 250, which took place on June 6th. The athlete used social media to confirm his desire and took many fans by surprise.

“Guys, I have decided to retire. Thank you for the incredible memories. It was a great journey. Here's a photo of my mom and me in Las Vegas, after I won one of my world titles. Choose your dream home, Mags. I love you. Everything you want is yours”, wrote the 'Notório' at the time.

A few days later, Conor justified his action, stating that he no longer has the energy to continue fighting. The athlete spent 2019 without performing, but returned to the octagon in January of this year and promoted another show of technique by knocking out Donald Cerrone in less than a minute in a fight between welterweights.

More than two weeks after the announcement, Conor remains intact at lightweight and has no negotiations to return to Ultimate.
