"Thank you all for the support. Different things happen in our work, but I'm not one of those who like to make excuses. Something was enough, something was not enough. Fight is fight. I did my best and caused maximum damage to my opponent. The risks are always high, but not everything is always in our favor. Thank you to everyone around us. Let’s fight for glory,” the Russian wrote on his Instagram account.

The confrontation against Curtis represented a great chance for the Russian to get closer to the heavyweight elite (up to 120,2kg), which today is dominated by Stipe Miocic. Alexander, however, ended up succumbing to his rival's excellent wrestling and was dominated for almost 25 minutes on the ground.

Volkov attempted a comeback in the final two rounds, however, it was not enough for the judges to score the dispute in his favor. After five rounds, the Russian was declared defeated in a unanimous decision.

Before stepping into the octagon last weekend, Alexander was coming off a victory over Greg hardy, in a fight that took place in November last year.
