Even without getting excited, Curtis blaydes did his homework by hitting Alexander Volkov in the main fight of UFC Las Vegas 3, held this Saturday (20). After achieving his fourth consecutive victory and establishing himself in third place in the heavyweight rankings (up to 120,2 kg), the North American believes that there are no more fights to do, other than fighting for the category belt.

“Who am I going to fight? I fought Justin Willis (2019), who was behind me. I faced (Shamil) Abdurakhimov (2019), who was behind me. I fought against Júnior (Cigano, in 2020), who was behind me. Volkov, who was also behind me. No. I don't have the best answer to the question, so it's better to leave it alone”, declared Blaydes in a press conference held after the show.
For this weekend's fight, Curtis fulfilled what he promised the week of the fight against Alexander. The plan was to not give space for the Russian to impose his pace and make use of his sharp striking. The North American then dominated his opponent with several takedowns and secured the victory, on points.
Blaydes, however, showed signs of physical wear from the third round onwards. With the fight in his hands, the North American put his triumph at risk due to fatigue and was almost surprised in the fourth and fifth rounds.
Now, Curitis will wait for the trilogy between Stipe Miocic e Daniel Cormier, who will fight for the belt on August 15, in the main event of UFC 252. After the confrontation, the Ultimate board will define who will be the next challenger for the number one position in the category.
