Considered one of the most feared men in MMA today, Francis Ngannou must be the 'reserve' athlete for the confrontation between Stipe Miocic e Daniel Cormier. The heavyweights (up to 120,2kg.) will face each other on August 15th, at UFC 252 (no defined location), competing for the category belt. In an interview with 'The Schmozone Podcast', Dana White confirmed that she intends to count on the French-Cameroonian in case there is an incident and one of the protagonists has to leave the card.

“We spoke to Ngannou about this. I don't know where we stand in these conversations, but yes. Obviously, if any of the guys leave (the fight), we want to put Francis there”, confirmed the 'boss'.
For more than a year, Ngannou has been waiting for a new chance to fight for the heavyweight belt. The athlete had one attempt, in January 2018, and ended up failing after being defeated by Stipe himself.
The French-Cameroonian, however, has been stating that he has evolved a lot as an athlete and that he would not repeat the same mistakes of the past against the current champion. The proof of the improvement in Francis' game is proven in his recent record within the organization. In his last four fights, the 'giant' defeated big names in the category such as Curtis blaydes and the former champions, junior gypsy e Cain Velazquez.
In his last performance, Ngannou once again put on a show when he brutalized the promising and then undefeated Jairzinho Rozenztruik with a knockout in just 20 seconds, in the UFC 249. In the interview after the fight, Francis once again criticized the situation in the division, which has not had a title fight since August last year. At the time, Ultimate had not yet made the trilogy between Miocic and DC official.
