Last weekend, the Pernambuco native had the tough task of recovering from two consecutive defeats and, ahead of him, he would have to beat the former division champion, cody garbrandt, who was also not going through a good time within the organization. After a very technical and studied first round, the Brazilian ended up surprised with a knockout near the end of the second round.
With the negative result, Raphael ended up suffering his third consecutive defeat and ended a streak of more than three years without victories for the North American. Now, Assunção will have to win his next match to regain his dream of competing for the division belt.
