For those who don't remember, this isn't the first time McGregor has threatened to leave MMA. In 2016, in the midst of a crisis with the UFC to get a rematch against Nate diaz, the Irishman considered abandoning mixed martial arts, but ended up backtracking.
I have decided to retire young.
Thanks for the cheese.

The same happened last year, when Conor was still abstracting from the defeat he suffered against Khabib Nurmagomedov, in October 2018. The Irishman spent the whole of last year without performing and, in January of this year, he promoted his return with a great victory over Donald Cerrone, UFC 246.
Hey guys quick announcement, I've decided to withdraw from the sport formally known as "Mixed Martial Art" today.
I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition.
I now join my partners on this venture, already in retirement.
