The Brazilians Mauricio Shogun e Lyoto Machida They entered the octagon at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, in the United States, with the responsibility of winning and putting on a great show to have a new opportunity to compete for the light heavyweight belt. And the Brazilian athletes did not disappoint and did well for the public who watched the fight on open TV on American soil. In the main fight of the night, Shogun fought a tough battle with Brandon Vera and knocked out his opponent in the fourth round. Shogun suffers, but beats Vera
It was more painful than expected, but Mauricio Shogun He showed a lot of desire and already known striking skills to defeat a brave Brandon Vera in the main fight of UFC on FOX 4. The Brazilian started better, closing the distance and taking the fight to the ground, from where he managed to improve his position and land some blows from above.

But when the fight resumed on the feet, the North American threw two powerful high kicks, which even when defended, made the Brazilian feel it. The fight continued with good standing strikes on both sides.

In the second round Shogun started with everything, pressing Brandon against the big men and applying powerful punches and knees from the Muay Thai clinch, almost knocking out his opponent. However, in the final half of the round, the Brazilian showed unexpected fatigue and even suffered some hard blows, including suffering a fall and ending the partial on the bottom. History repeated itself in the third round. Shogun started better, but slowed down and ended up getting hit by the North American, but this time, the Brazilian took him down and was on top, working some ground positions.

In the fourth round, the story changed. After a more cautious start from both fighters, due to the fatigue shown by both, Shogun managed to land a sequence of punches that took Vera to the ground. This time, without wasting time, Mauricio landed several blows from above and forced the referee to stop the fight and declare a technical knockout.

Lyoto mirrors Anderson and knocks out Bader
During the UFC on FOX 4 promotion, Lyoto Machida announced that he would present a surprise in the fight and kept his promise. The Brazilian showed the traditional entry speed with the karate base, but used feint work with his arms similar to that applied by Anderson Silva. And this movement confused Ryan bader throughout the dispute.

In the first round, the American was unable to connect any blows, with Machida using side dodges to get out of range. In the second round the outcome came with a flourish.

After a combination of punches from Bader, Lyoto made the defense and, in a quick counterattack, delivered a counter blow that took the North American to the ground, practically knocked out. The Brazilian still applied two more blows to the ground until the referee interrupted the dispute.

I'm a fan of Shogun but he just didn't lose because Vera didn't believe it. Any other opponent in the category would have crushed it in the first round. The performance for a Main Event, and more, from a former Pride and UFC champion was disappointing. It is worth remembering that Shogun's coach (André Dida) is the same one who trained Wanderlei Silva, who also gave up due to fatigue (UFC BH). He also trained others, who (coincidentally) only lost. It should also be said that Shogun seemed “discouraged” in the press conferences and in official UFC photos, even before the event. Maurício is an athlete of the highest level, and I think it would be time to “sneeze” at the current coach. There is plenty of technique, but there is a lack of physical conditioning. For anyone looking for another chance to fight for a belt, they weren't prepared. Merits to Machida… one of the best KO's in the UFC.
