Coming off two consecutive defeats, Raphael Assunção will have the chance to get back on the path to victory in style. This Saturday (6), the athlete will face the former bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg), cody garbrandt in the co-main event of UFC 250, in Las Vegas (USA). Aware that he will be fighting against a big name in the organization, the native of Pernambuco hopes for a positive result to dream of winning the category title again.

“(A win) puts me back where I was for the title shot. A win against this guy is huge. That's all I care about,” said the Brazilian in an interview with 'BJPenn.com'.

Even though he is aware that his next opponent is not having a good time within the UFC, as he has lost his last three fights and has not won since December 2016, Assunção states that he is not based on his rival's setbacks to point out his favoritism. The Pernambuco native knows that anything can happen in MMA, but he still believes he has the weapons to defeat Cody.

“Anything can happen, but I’m not focused on his defeats. I'm focused on myself and what I can do. I'm a fighter. I will do whatever I need to win. I feel comfortable in any area. I've been preparing myself for any situation. I always try to evolve and I’m confident,” he concluded.

Currently, Raphael occupies 5th position in the category ranking. Garbrandt, in turn, is in 11th place.
