Dana White confirms that Anderson denied Weidman, but may face Jon Jones

the return of Anderson Silva to the octagon could be one of the most anticipated fights by fans. If the Brazilian's manager, Jorge Guimarães, said that the “Spider” refused to defend the middleweight belt against the North American Chris Weidman (remember here), UFC president, Dana White, considered that the refusal could be related to a possible confrontation against Jon Jones, owner of the light heavyweight title.

“This is the same thing (denying the fight against Jones) that they said about Chael Sonnen, you know what I mean? They said they weren't going to do this fight (against Jones) either. That's what they do every time a (Anderson) fight ends. They start talking about who they’re not going to fight and who they can fight,” said Dana White, at the UFC on FOX 4 press conference.

The director also commented on a possible challenge for Anderson against another UFC champion, the Canadian Georges St Pierre, owner of the welterweight belt.

“Georges St-Pierre and Anderson Silva They are considered the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, and I think, especially with GSP's inactivity, people now consider Silva to be the best. There was this discussion for a long time, and if GSP hadn't gotten hurt, perhaps the debate would still exist. But he’s definitely number two or three in the world,” concluded White.
