“How many of you walk into a store and have to put your hands behind your back so they don't think you're stealing? How many of you walk down the street and have to smile to make the person you already see is scared of you feel comfortable? I just moved and live in the penthouse. Three times I've seen racist white people jump up when they see me in the elevator, and I smile at them and give way so they don't get scared when they see me. Why? Because I'm black. Just because I'm black. What did I do? I had no choice. But if he had, he would still be black,” Adesanya said.

The Ultimate middleweight champion didn't stop there. He continued his speech and asked all protesters to 'speak up' against racism.

“We need them to speak loudly. They need to say something, because I'm tired and sick of seeing these faces being killed, because I see myself in them! All the time, and it's heartbreaking. I'm pissed off. We're done with the Covid curve, right? They want to militarize the New Zealand police. Let’s get this over with soon,” he concluded.
