O Gilbert Durinho's show last Saturday (30), against Tyron Woodley, continues to generate comments in the MMA universe. After dominating the former division champion for five rounds and reaching the top of the welterweight division (up to 77kg), the Brazilian managed to catch the attention of the current belt owner, Kamaru Usman, who praised the Niteroi native's performance against the North American.

Shortly after defeating Woodley in a unanimous decision by the judges, Gilbert took the opportunity to challenge Usman for a title shot. Durinho, however, made a point of making clear his respect for Kamaru, with whom he trains and considers a great champion.
“I love the champion, Kamaru Usman. He's my teammate, but I want to fight for the title. I have a lot of respect for you, Kamaru, but I deserve it. He beat the champion, I just beat him, so give me that chance! I can fight in July”, said the Niteroi native in an interview after the main fight of the UFC Woodley x Durinho.
Kamaru has not played since his first title defense, in December last year, when he defeated, by knockout, his great rival, Colby covington, in the main fight of the UFC 245. The Nigerian now awaits his next challenge, which has not yet been confirmed.
In a recent interview, UFC president Dana White stated that Usman could face Jorge masvidal, Colby covington ou Leon edwards in your next challenge.
