After putting on a great show in the victory over Anthony Smith, on the 13th, in Jacksonville (USA), Glover Teixeira took a big step towards a future fight for the light heavyweight (up to 93kg) belt. After achieving his fourth consecutive victory, the Brazilian took fifth place in the category ranking and returned to the radar for a new chance to fight for the title. The information was released on the official Ultimate website.

When he stepped into the Octagon to face Smith, Glover was the 'underdog' at most bookmakers. At 40 years old, the Minas Gerais native would face an athlete who recently competed for the belt, who is dangerous and younger.
Teixeira, however, proved otherwise. After a scare in the first round, the Brazilian achieved one of the biggest comebacks in the UFC in 2020. The athlete managed to reverse the situation and, from the third round onwards, truly punished his rival.
Teixeira's attack on Anthony was so great that, after the fight, there was a lot of criticism of the referee, Jazon Harzog, for not stopping the fight, compromising the American's physical integrity.
