“A fight that would make sense would be with the Anthony Pettis. He just beat (Donald) Cerrone. I think he was ranked below me before this fight. I won my fight, he won his. It would be a fight that would make a lot of sense and it would be a fight with a very good style, because he is a 'switcher' and I am a 'switcher'. I was going to bring a lot of people to watch.

Luque believes that the fact that 'Showtime' performed at the same event (UFC 249) increases the possibility of the confrontation happening, as both are going through a period of rest after their commitments and could return to training at the same time. Vicente, however, understands that there are other possibilities and does not close the door on any rival within the top 15 of the category.

“I'm targeting someone within the top 15, preferably within the top 10. It's difficult to name a name at this moment, because there are people who are not comfortable fighting during this period (of the coronavirus pandemic), there are people who are not feeling well training, without the gyms open. I need to keep my options open. It's time (to face elite opponents). I had that fight with (Stephen) Thompson (the Brazilian ended up defeated in November 2019), it didn't go the way I wanted, but I learned a lot. Now, I’m back on the path to winning and I want to catch someone ranked”, he concluded.

PUBLICITY:

At 28 years old, Luque now has 26 appearances as a professional in MMA. The athlete has 18 wins, seven losses and one draw. Vicente currently occupies 13th position in the ranking headed by Kamaru Usman.
