The great performance of Glover Teixeira against Anthony Smith, this Wednesday (13), in Jacksonville, continues to give something to talk about. After carrying out a real massacre against his rival, the Brazilian ended up catching the attention of an old acquaintance: Jon Jones. On his social networks, the light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) praised the performance of the Minas Gerais native, who should return to the top 5 in the category.

“Man, 'Uncle Glover' is not messing around tonight,” Jones wrote on his Twitter account.

With the triumph over Smith, Teixeira, 40, got closer to the main names in the division and returned, once and for all, to the organization's radar for a future title fight. In the confrontation against Anthony, the Brazilian had difficulties in the first round, but achieved a great turnaround, when he dominated his opponent in the remaining rounds until sealing the duel with a knockout in the last round.
Glover has already had the opportunity to face 'Bones' for the Ultimate belt. The clash took place in 2014, at UFC 172. At the time, the Minas Gerais native had been undefeated since his debut in the organization and still boasted a record of 20 consecutive victories. Against Jon, however, Teixeira ended up succumbing to the champion's talent and was defeated by unanimous decision from the judges.
After the triumph over Anthony, the Tupiniquim team confirmed their good form and achieved their fourth positive result in the organization.
