The 'naughty' and provocative side of Conor McGregor appears to have only stayed inside the octagon during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Aware of his responsibility as a big name in world sport, the athlete continues to be involved in helping hospital centers in Ireland. Recently, the 'Notório' announced a donation of equipment to a pediatric center in Crumlin, located in the suburbs of Dublin.

Since the coronavirus took global proportions, McGregor has been one of the UFC fighters most actively participating in awareness campaigns. The athlete is also on the front line in helping finance protective equipment for patients and professionals who fight daily to combat the pandemic that has already caused thousands of deaths around the world.

At the end of March, the Irishman had confirmed that he would donate €1 million (around R$5,5 million) in the purchase of medical equipment for hospitals. The promise was made in conversation with the country's Finance Minister, Paschal Donohoe.

At the time, the 'Notório' showed the seriousness with which the case deserves to be treated and made a point of making a statement to his admirers via social media.

“I know a good, tough fight when I see one, and now we have one on our hands. I want to call my people: the great people of Ireland. This fight needs all of us. We are all together in the red corner and waiting for the bell. So let's get together and ring the bell ourselves – including people from the rest of the world. A real lockdown must begin, and it must begin now. A united confinement. We must close our airports. We must close all non-essential businesses. We have to cut all non-essential travel,” Conor said in a video lasting more than two minutes.
