Even after Ultimate announced the return of its activities during the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), the heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg.), Stipe Miocic, refuses to return to the Octagon. The athlete claims that the inability to train normally forces him to stay away from sport during the global health crisis. In an interview with 'The Score', the fighter spoke about the subject.

“No chance (of fighting). I mean, if I can't have adequate training, there's no reason to fight,” said the American.

Even with the release of MMA in Florida (USA) – a state that will host UFC events from May 9th – fighters must still respect certain prevention measures, such as a considerable reduction in the number of teammates. The actions aim to reduce crowds and, thus, minimize the chances of contagion.

“Honestly, I haven’t been training. Gyms are closed and we don't have much equipment in our homes. There’s not much I can do”, explained Miocic.

The American has not played since regaining his title in the rematch against Daniel Cormier, in August last year. On that occasion, the athlete returned the knockout he had suffered the previous year and returned to the top of the heavyweight division.

Now, sports fans await confirmation of a new date for the heavyweight trilogy. DC has already stated in some interviews that the revenge against his compatriot should seal his last appearance in MMA, win or lose.
