UFC announces return to activities on May 9th, with two title fights

After much speculation, the company officially announces UFC 249 in the city of Jacksonville; two more cards are scheduled for the 13th and 16th

It's official. Ultimate confirmed the resumption of its activities on May 9th, with the UFC 249. The card will take place in Jacksonville, Florida (USA), and will feature two title fights. In addition to the aforementioned show, the organization will also hold shows on May 13th and 16th – that is, three events in one week. The information was released by the company in the early afternoon of this Friday (24).

Since Dana White and his team confirmed the temporary suspension of the company's activities, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 'big boss' assured that he and his employees would not stop working in search of a solution to resume the calendar.

The action found, then, was to take the UFC delegation to Florida, which recently, under its government, was authorized to hold fight shows, with the WWE as a pioneer. The promotion of the shows, however, must follow restrictive measures, such as banning the public from the stands. The presentations will take place in the city of Jacksonville, specifically at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.

With the event confirmed, Ultimate tried to bring the public the best it had to fill the card. In a statement to the company's official website, White revealed that he was excited to get back to work.

O UFC 249 will feature two title fights. In the co-main fight of the night, Henry Cejudo makes his first defense of the bantamweight title (up to 61,2kg), when he faces the former champion Dominick Cruz.

The leading role in the show will mark the long-awaited meeting between Tony Ferguson e Justin gaethje in the fight for the interim lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg.).

In total, there will be 12 presentations and Brazil will have two three strong representatives: Fabricio Werdum, Ronaldo Jacare e Vincent Luque.

Regarding the cards for May 13th and 16th, the company revealed that the fights will be revealed in the coming days.
