The postponement of the fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov e Tony Ferguson Due to the coronavirus, it disappointed many MMA fans around the world. Considered one of the most anticipated meetings in the recent history of mixed martial arts, the battle between the Russian and the North American, however, could have a new date soon – as long as the pandemic situation is regularized. On his social networks, the lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg) once again suggested a date, but made reservations regarding safety issues.

“We are not yet in September, although it is difficult to believe that everything will be over by then, but a serious person said: 'In times of peace it is necessary to prepare for war”, wrote the 'Eagle'.

Khabib was heavily criticized by some fans after he announced that he would not participate in the card scheduled for April 18th. With just over two weeks remaining until the event takes place, the athlete confirmed that he would be unable to travel outside of Russia due to the closure of the country's borders as a preventative measure against the spread of COVID-19.

After the announcement, the athlete had already signaled that he would be able to return to the octagon in August or September, after completing Ramadan (a 30-day period in which Muslims practice fasting), which takes place between April 23 and May 23. During this period, the Russian remains out of training and, at the end, he can return to his athlete routine.

Ultimate even promoted Justin gaethje for Nurmagomedov's place in the battle against Ferguson. The clash would be worth the interim belt in the category, but, last week, the top brass at 'ESPN' – responsible for broadcasting UFC fights – made Dana White back down and halt his company's activities for an indefinite period of time.
