When many imagined that the biggest rival of Jon Jones in MMA, Daniel Cormier, would celebrate yet another controversy involving the UFC light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg.), DC showed his human side. Rejecting any possibility of well-being in seeing his biggest tormentor in bad shape, after a new arrest last week in the United States, the former number one heavyweight and light heavyweight heavyweight lamented the new incident carried out by Jon.

“Seeing him in trouble again, many people around me sent me almost celebratory messages, but that's not me. I wasn't thrilled with the kid getting into trouble again. I don't think you should celebrate or dance on someone's grave in their darkest moments. Are you a human being or does this competition go over everything? I got no joy seeing this guy in this situation again, because it's just bad. Not just for him. He has daughters, he has a fiancée”, said DC in an interview with 'ESPN'.

Daniel continued to show sadness about the situation of his co-worker with whom he shared the octagon on two occasions. According to Cormier, after another case involving drunkenness, 'Bones' proves that he needs help and will not be able to get out of the situation without the support of Ultimate.

“The boy has a problem. Regardless of how I feel, it won't change until someone takes drastic action. The UFC has to take action,” said Cormier.

Although he suggested action by the organization, anyone who imagines that Jon's rival supports the suggestion that the light heavyweight champion should be removed from the company after repeated controversies outside of MMA is mistaken. Quite the opposite. For DC, the company should support the athlete in order to help him deal with his problems.

“I don’t think the UFC should fire him. I think the UFC needs to save him. Stay with him, but they really need to help him, so he can try to improve”, concluded Cormier.

Jones and Daniel faced each other twice in the light heavyweight division, leading to one of the biggest rivalries in recent MMA history. The first time they exchanged forces, in 2015, DC ended up defeated in a unanimous decision by the judges.

The two should have faced each other in a rematch in 2016, but Jon ended up caught in an anti-doping test and gave way to Anderson Silva, with two days left until UFC 200.

In 2017, finally, the fighters returned to share the combat arena. With the rivalry even more fierce, 'Bones' ended up superior to his rival and defeated DC by knockout, and, on that occasion, regained the belt, which he had lost after being stripped due to legal problems. The victory, however, was taken away from Jones after the athlete was caught taking a doping test.
