Amid the coronavirus pandemic, MMA fans remain uncertain whether the UFC 249 will happen on the scheduled date. The company's president, Dana White, stated that the show remains confirmed on April 18th and one of the organization's main names, Daniel Cormier, helped reinforce the idea that the card will be maintained on the day. The heavyweight spoke about the subject in an interview with 'MMA Fighting'.

“I believe he (Dana White) will be able to do the UFC 249. I don't doubt him. When he visualizes something, he can do it. He spoke to FOX and ESPN and people thought he was crazy. I think his passion took the sport to the level it is today,” said DC.
Cormier also commented on his enthusiasm to watch the main fight of the event, which will mark the meeting between Khabib Nurmagomedov e Tony Ferguson competing for the lightweight title (up to 70,3kg.).
“I might be the only guy who wants this fight more than Dana White,” said the former heavyweight champion.
A personal friend and teammate of Khabib, Daniel spoke about how important the fight against Tony is for the champion. The confrontation between the two has already been scheduled on four different occasions, but each time it ended up being canceled due to injuries.
“I have known Khabib for many years. I know how much this fight means to him. He wants to face Tony Ferguson and defeat him. I think he is preparing more than ever to achieve this victory. I’m sure Tony thinks the same way”, concluded DC.
O UFC 249 initially it was supposed to take place in New York (USA). However, due to preventive measures adopted by the local government, the show ended up being prevented from being held in the city. Now, Ultimate is working to find a new space to hold the dispute. There are indications that the card will be transferred outside the United States.
