Considered one of the best MMA fighters of all time, Jon Jones it was back in the news on the police pages. The UFC light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg.) was arrested this Thursday (26), in Albuquerque (USA), for driving while intoxicated and negligent use of a firearm. The information was released by 'MMA Fighting'.

According to a police report, the American was approached and failed the breathalyzer tests, which indicated the alcohol limit was above the legal limit for driving a vehicle. When detaining the fighter, authorities found a firearm and a bottle of drink inside the athlete's vehicle.

According to authorities, gunshots were heard and Jones was subsequently found in the driver's seat of the vehicle. The fighter denied that he was responsible for the shooting and claimed to be unaware of the origin of the accusation. One of those responsible for the case, Gilber Gallegos, then stated that an examination will be carried out to verify whether the capsules found match the projectiles from the weapon found in Jon's car.

With a successful career in mixed martial arts, Jones has accumulated troubles outside the Octagon. In 2012, the fighter was arrested, also in Albuquerque, under the influence of alcohol. In 2015, 'Bones' also had problems with the police after running over a person and fleeing the scene without providing assistance to the victim.

In recent years, the champion seemed to have returned to good behavior. In 2018, the athlete resumed his Ultimate career after serving a suspension for doping and continued his successful trajectory within one of the largest MMA organizations in the world. Since then, the fighter has appeared on four occasions, winning on all of them.

Currently, the North American is 32 years old and has 28 appearances as a professional in the sport. Jon has 26 wins, one loss and one unsuccessful fight.

His last performance was in February this year, when he defended the light heavyweight title against Dominick reyes and beat his rival in a result contested by most MMA enthusiasts.
