O UFC Brasilia, which took place this Saturday (14), will not bring good memories to Demian Maia. The 42-year-old athlete, who was on a three-fight winning streak, was severely knocked out by his compatriot, Gilbert Durinho and now, he is planning his last fight before retiring from MMA. In an interview with 'BJPenn.com', the São Paulo native suggested two names for his farewell commitment to the sport.

Maia only has one more fight left in her current contract with Ultimate and, as she has been saying for some time now, the jiu-jitsu icon does not intend to extend her career for much longer. With this in mind, the combatant asked that his next commitment be against Donald Cerrone ou Diego Sanchez.

This is not the first time that Demian has asked to face Sanchez. After he defeated Ben Askren in the UFC Singapore, in October last year, the Brazilian had already asked to face the North American. However, the athlete's wish was not met and Diego ended up being selected to face Michael Pereira, at UFC Rio Rancho.

A fight against Cerrone, who is one of the organization's most experienced fighters, could be interesting for fans and bring a lot of audience to the company. Donald, who is not going through a good phase in his career, having been defeated in his last three engagements, is famous for not rejecting challenges. The North American, who needs to return to his good form, can see, in the confrontation against a renowned Brazilian, the opportunity to recover his career.

The duel against Durinho marked the 38th appearance in his career. Demian Maia. The athlete today has 28 victories and 10 setbacks. The São Paulo native has already competed for the UFC belt on two occasions: the first in 2010, at middleweight (up to 83,9kg), when he lost to Anderson Silva; and the second, in 2017, when he was beaten by Tyron woodley for the welterweight title (up to 77kg.).
