The rivalry between Israel adesanya e Paulo borrachinha added another chapter this Monday (24). The new confusion began during the press conference of the UFC 248, when the middleweight champion (up to 83.9 kg.) will defend his reign against Yoel romero on the 7th. During the press conference, the Nigerian said he would take down the challenger like the 'Twin Towers'.

“I'll hit him just enough, he'll end up collapsing like the Twin Towers,” said Adesanya, in reference to the World Trade Center buildings, which were toppled in 2001, in the terrorist attack led by Osama Bin Laden.
The statement, however, displeased Borrachinha, number one in the middleweight rankings. The Brazilian considered that his rival disrespected the victims of the attack and all the people who worked on the attack. The Brazilian athlete even said that he will 'kill' his rival.
"Israel adesanya, you are a disgusting piece of shit. How do you have the courage to make a joke disrespecting the thousands who died and the heroic figures of firefighters and police? I’m going to kill you for real, you dirty kiwi”, wrote the Brazilian on his Twitter account.

The Brazilian Paulo borrachinha and the Nigerian Israel adesanya have been exchanging banter since they emerged as the middleweight's top rising stars. After the Minas Gerais native defeated Romero at UFC 241, in August 2019, and Adesanya unified the division title by defeating Robert whittaker, in October, the expectation would be for rivals to face each other. However, Borrachinha suffered a pectoral injury and is not yet scheduled to compete again. With that, Romero was summoned to challenge Israel.
