Walt returns to perform in order to continue a good phase in his career. Currently in 9th position in the category's official ranking, the fighter has two consecutive victories. The American has not been defeated since November 2017, when he had a setback after an illegal hit on Mark Godbeer.

Overeem, in turn, needs to recover from the hard setback he suffered to Jairzinho Rozenstruik, who replaced Harris himself in the UFC Washington. At the time, the Dutchman dominated his rival for practically every round, but was surprised by a brutal knockout with just a few seconds left in the match.
