Last week, the name of the Brazilian Bibiano Fernandes was announced by Ultimate on the UFC 149 card, an event that takes place on July 21, in Calgary, Canada. But, without further explanation, the organization's official Twitter announced last Monday night (11), that the Brazilian athlete was out of the fight program.

Through an open letter released to the press, the bantamweight explained that despite ongoing negotiations, the agreement was not signed at the desired financial values desired by him.

“Initially I would like to clarify the news involving my name and that of the UFC, where it was widely announced that I would be the new contract for the event, and I would have signed the contract to participate in UFC 149 which will take place on July 21st in the city of Calgary, in Canada. I would like to say that I am not a UFC athlete, I did not sign a contract with the organization. What was actually happening was a negotiation with the event, but we did not reach an agreement, therefore, the news published in the specialized media that I would be a UFC athlete is not true.

PUBLICITY:

I would also like to say that first and foremost, I am a family man, a professional athlete and I make a living from sport, from where I earn my living and that of my family, since the UFC and I did not reach an agreement that would benefit the me and my family, I did not sign the contract that would allow me to be part of this great organization.

The UFC is the biggest MMA organization on the planet, but I have my personal and professional values that momentarily prevented me from being part of that great show. I also say that the day we manage to reach an agreement that is good for both parties, I will have the enormous pleasure and satisfaction to participate in the UFC, always honoring my State and my Country.

Lastly, I inform you that I am still an athlete for DREAM, a Japanese organization of which I am champion of the bantamweight category. I would like to thank God and all my fans who were thrilled with the news, but I am not yet part of the UFC.

Graciously

Bibiano Fernandes. "
