The Brazilian Paulo borrachinha does not hide the frustration of confirming the confrontation between Israel adesanya e Yoel romero, UFC 248, on March 7, in the dispute for the middleweight belt (up to 83,9kg.). Although he does not agree with the duel scheduled by Ultimate, Borrachinha understands why the company chose its 'last victim' as a challenger for the title. For Paulo, the battle he fought with Romero, in August last year, at UFC 241, was essential for the organization to accept that Yoel could fulfill the challenge.
“Romero qualified to fight Adesanya because of his last fight with me. He was the only athlete who wasn't knocked out or submitted by me. He managed to survive three rounds with me. He fought a tough fight. He lost, but even so, for having this fight with me, who in my opinion, I am the biggest challenger and the most dangerous guy in the category”, he declared.
Having debuted in MMA in 2012, the Brazilian has, to date, been building a perfect career. The Minas Gerais native has already made 13 appearances as a professional in the sport and won every time – 11 by knockout, one by submission and only one decision went to the judges.
The Brazilian is currently recovering from biceps surgery. The prediction is that the middleweight will be seen again in the Octagon from April onwards.
