One of the great promises of Ultimate, Maycee barber lived a real drama in UFC 246, which took place last Saturday (18), in Las Vegas (USA). In addition to losing her unbeaten record in her career, the 21-year-old suffered a complete rupture of the cruciate ligament in her left knee in her duel against Roxanne Modafferi in the last fight on the preliminary card. According to information from the athlete's father in an interview with 'ESPN', Maycee is expected to undergo surgery soon and could be out of action for nine months.

“We think she got hurt 10 seconds into the fight. She felt a pop when she stepped on Roxanne's (Modafferi) foot. You can see the knee bending to the side. But she came back to the fight, tried to do some things, and I noticed that she was less aggressive, in a way that she had never seen before,” said Bucky Berber.
During the break from the second to the third round, the North American's coaches asked which knee was bothering her, and the athlete simply stated that she was fine and wanted to return to the duel. The UFC doctor, however, examined the athlete, but Barber was reluctant and wanted to return to the battle.
After the victory over Maycee, Roxanne made a point of congratulating her opponent and wishing her compatriot a speedy recovery.
When he stepped into the octagon for the fight, Barber was making his ninth career appearance. The American had never been defeated and was emerging as a big name to compete for the division's belt in the near future.
If the nine-month recovery period is confirmed, Maycee will only be able to return to the octagon in October, approaching the end of the year.
