The triumphant return of Conor McGregor to the Octagon, which took place last Saturday (18), at UFC 246, filled the eyes of the company's president, Dana White. After defeating Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds, the 'boss' was left with the role of praising the Irishman and confirming him as a future challenger for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg). The statement was made at the press conference after the show.

“Khabib is undefeated after 28 fights and we can already talk about his legacy for the sport. Having 28 wins in this sport is very difficult and, therefore, it doesn't matter who you have fought. After Conor's victory in the UFC 246 and the way Nurmagomedov won the first fight, we can already look at this rematch as something huge.

Without fear of exaggeration, White took the opportunity to draw comparisons of the confrontation, establishing audience similarities to presentations that have already represented major battles in the history of fighting.

“(It will be) like Muhammad Ali vs. George Foreman (1974) or Ali vs. Joe Frazier (1971, 1974, 1975). It's a huge fight. It’s the fight that makes sense, for the lightweight belt and it will be the biggest fight in the history of UFC and MMA”, confirmed the president.

Before closing and making the rematch between the notorious Khabib official, Dana must wait for the division title to be decided in the duel between the Russian and Tony Ferguson. The athletes are committed to holding another fight that is highly anticipated by MMA fans.

Ferguson and Khabib will exchange forces on April 18, in the main fight of the UFC 249, in New York (USA). After the confrontation, the winner must face Conor in 2020.
