With each passing day, José Aldo is closer to his debut in the bantamweight category (61,2kg.). With a fight this Saturday (14), for UFC 245, where he faces his compatriot Marlon moraes, Manauara is looking for new opportunities and dreams of a new Ultimate title. "Now I'm fine. I've already made featherweight (up to 65,7kg), training well and hard every day. For me, it's been easy. For the first time, I'm on a diet, so it didn't hurt anything. It just helped me. But I was never one to eat a lot, I always ate well, I always had good, healthy nutrition. I've never been one to eat any junk food. I had two months on a diet, eating carefully, correctly, it was very easy”, explained the man from Manaus.

Although he is undergoing a smooth weight cut, according to the athlete himself, Aldo states that he had never imagined himself working in the lower division. The 'People's Champion' said that his coach and mentor, Dedé Pederneiras, had already suggested that the athlete take a risk in the lighter category, but the matter had never developed.

“I never (had thought). Dedé always said that to me, that I could fight at bantamweight, but I always put that out of everyone's head. I didn't see myself fighting at bantamweight. I thought it was impossible at the time, mainly because I was fine being champion or close to the title. I didn’t see myself going down to bantamweight, but going up to lightweight,” José confessed.

Finally, the athlete commented on his expectations for the duel against Marlon. According to the manauara, a victory over his compatriot could mean one of the best results of his life, which will put him close to the division title, which currently belongs to Henry Cejudo.

“By winning on Saturday, I am the new world champion. That's a fact, there's nowhere to run. This is the fight for the title, with Marlon (Moraes). That's what I consider, and as soon as I win, you can say I'm the new champion. (Henry) Cejudo is a very funny guy, he's a good guy too, he's making waves in the category, but I'm not even thinking about him. First I have to think about Marlon and as soon as I win I will be the world champion”, concluded the Brazilian.
