Walt Harris speaks out after stepdaughter's death: 'I just want you back'

UFC heavyweight makes emotional publication and reveals suffering after tragic end in the case of Aniah Blanchard, who disappeared a month ago

The world of MMA is in mourning after the death of 19-year-old Aniah Blanchard, who had been missing for just over a month, was announced. The young woman is the stepdaughter of UFC heavyweight, Walt Harris, who first spoke out after police released the tragic news. In a post on Instagram, the athlete spoke about the moment he and his family experienced.

“My sweet girl. I just want to thank you for helping me change my life for the better. For teaching me to be a better man and father. For being my biggest fan; winning, losing or drawing. For always knowing what to say to put a smile on my face and lifting me up when I was down and wanted to give up,” Walt wrote.

The message continued in a tone of suffering. The fighter spoke of the difficulties he will face to overcome such a huge loss in his life.

“This pain is unbearable. I know you want me to be strong, but it's so hard. I will find a way, I promise I will. Now nothing makes sense and I'm so lost. I just want you back. I hope I made you proud,” she declared. "I will move on. Daddy just needs some time. Take care of us like you always have. We need you more than ever. I love you forever”, concluded the athlete.

Harris' message moved many people in the mixed martial arts world. Dozens of athletes commented on the publication, wishing strength and offering their condolences to the fighter's family.

Amanda nunes, bantamweight and featherweight champion, was one of the athletes who supported Walt. Just like the 'Lioness', her companion, Nina ansaroff, also paid tribute.

The Brazilian Thiago Pitbull was another fighter to support the heavyweight division, as was the former strawweight champion, Joanna Jędrzejczyk.

The announcement of Aniah's death was released last Wednesday night (27), after forensics found that the genetic material found in the remains of a body, in Macon County (USA), was compatible with that of Harris' stepdaughter .

After confirmation from the police, Dana White, president of the UFC, went public to announce the tragic end of the case.

Before the tragedy, Walt had an appointment scheduled UFC Washington, which will take place on September 7th. The athlete would exchange forces with alistair overeemHowever, the fighter withdrew from the event to focus on the disappearance of his stepdaughter.
