Police confirm death of UFC heavyweight's stepdaughter

Expertise proves that remains found in Macon County (USA) were those of Aniah Blanchard, daughter of Walt Harris' wife, who had been missing for more than a month

The search for Aniah Blanchard, stepdaughter of UFC heavyweight, Walt Harris, ended with a tragic ending. After more than a month of investigations and searches, the police confirmed, after forensic examination, that the remains found in Macon County, in the United States, were of the 19-year-old girl, who had been missing for more than a month. The information was provided by local authorities and then shared by Dana White, president of Ultimate, who lamented the case and paid tribute to the victim and the athlete.

“The police confirmed to us that it was Aniah (Blachard) they found. I am devastated to hear this news. I am heartbroken for Walt (Harris) and his family. Thank you to everyone for your support, including local and Alabama state police, media, athletes, managers and fans. My condolences to everyone who was touched by Aniah's story and tried to help bring her home,” Dana wrote.

In recent weeks, the president of Ultimate has mobilized to help in the search for the young woman, even donating US$30 to the authorities to help find Blanchard. More than 60 professionals worked to find the young woman, having even arrested suspects involved in the case.

Harris would compete in the main fight of the UFC Washington, which takes place on December 7th against alistair overeemHowever, the American left the fight to dedicate himself exclusively to searching for his daughter.

In his latest posts on social media, Walt dedicated himself to sharing images of Aniah and, on Thursday morning (28), without captions, he shared a montage with a series of images of his stepdaughter. Several MMA athletes and fans are lending their support to the heavyweight.

At 36 years old, the American Top Team athlete currently occupies eighth place in the heavyweight division rankings. The fighter has two consecutive victories and has not been defeated since 2017, when he was beaten by Mark Godbeer.
