In search of redemption, Walker guarantees that he will not change his style: 'I never joked during the fight'

The Brazilian Johnny Walker He appeared like lightning in the UFC and soon fell into the public's favor. After three performances worthy of applause, the athlete suffered defeat at the beginning of this month, when he was knocked out by Corey anderson No. UFC 244. After the setback, the athlete was criticized by fans and some media outlets for the way he handled the clash. In an interview with 'ESPN Brasil', however, the fighter seems to have absorbed the negative result and assured that he will remain with his way of acting.

“The audience applauded me and booed the other guy. So if they seemed to like me, why change? I never joked during a fight. I always act seriously. I like to show the crowd some energy. I know this is entertainment”, said the athlete from Belford Roxo (RJ).

For the commitment against Corey, Walker was confident throughout the promotion of the show. The athlete traveled to several countries, such as Russia, to try to add tricks to his strategy and, thus, become a more complete fighter. However, as the fight progressed, defeat came cruelly.

Johnny, however, confessed to having learned from the setback and is now looking for a new opponent to get back on track to winning ways and once again dream of a title fight, which would have been close if he had defeated Anderson.

Next time, I'll do what I did in my last fights (which I won). I will do my job without waiting, I will play my game, fight with joy. The winning fighter is the one with the most attitude. I remember kicking him in front, but I just wanted to see his reaction. I didn't finish the kick. That was one of the things I learned: not to hesitate, to have confidence. I have to focus more on the psychological part. I have to eliminate what stresses me deep down. I could have taken him down right there”, concluded the Brazilian.

Even defeated, Walker still has a lot of time to reach his dream title fight. The fighter is only 27 years old and could become the idol that the fans fantasized about during his time in Ultimate.
