The North Americans Nate diaz e Jorge masvidal enter the octagon, this Saturday (02), in the main fight of the UFC 244, for the unprecedented title fight: the BMF, or simply the 'Toughest Son of a Mother'. But, after all, what is this title, why this name, and what is it worth?

Before they became UFC stars, Nate diaz e Jorge masvidal They began their careers in an unusual way, in street fights in two extreme locations in the USA.

Diaz started his journey in Stockton, California, West Coast. The fighter's connection with the place is so great that he carries the number 209, the city's pre-fixed telephone number, on his Twitter account (@NateDiaz209).

Of Cuban origin, Masvidal also started in the world of fighting in street fights, on the other side of the country, in the Miami region, on the East Coast. Alongside names like the late Kimbo Slice, he made his way to the UFC.

BMF and its translation

As already mentioned, BMF is the acronym for 'Baddest Motherf••ker'. But, as it is an expression in English with profanity, some Brazilian outlets prefer to translate it with adaptive texts such as: 'Lutador Mais Casca-Grossa', 'Lutador Most Sinister' or 'The Toughest of All'. However, the translation, literally, is 'Toughest son of a bitch (tough in the sense of bad)'

How much does the BMF belt cost

According to UFC president Dana White, the belt is worth US$50, around R$200 at the current price. It will be presented to the winner of Diaz vs. Masvidal by actor and former WWE star Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson

Will the BMF belt be defended?

According to Dana White, the BMF belt will not be defended by the winner of Diaz vs. Masvidal at a later date. It will be awarded exclusively to the winner of the superfight at UFC 244.

“No (it will be defended). It will happen once and it's over. Whoever wins, wins the belt and can celebrate the title”, confirmed the 'boss'.
