Nate Diaz suggests he may not perform again after UFC 244: 'I don't need to fight anymore'

The athlete, however, states that, through the right fight, he can return to perform for the company and confirms his love for the sport

the american Nate diaz, with each event he participates in, he has become one of the most iconic athletes in the history of Ultimate. Famous for not mincing words and doing whatever he wants within the company, the fighter, with his style, has gained a large number of admirers in the sport. However, after he performs at the UFC 244, which takes place this Saturday (2), the fighter stated that he will no longer need to fight in his career. The statement was made in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

“I never have to fight again. I haven't had to fight in a long time, but what am I going to do? I have a lot of business going on, but I don't like not fighting,” said Nate.

The athlete then commented on the possibilities of his future, after facing Jorge masvidal in the main fight of UFC 244. Without being sure what direction he will take after the event, the athlete ended up being 'on the fence' when talking about the course of his career.

“Either I'm going to retire forever, or I'm going to come back and fight someone who seems right to me,” said the American.

Diaz also commented on why he stayed away from the sport for three years. According to the fighter, everything is a matter of the organization's respect for him. The fighter revealed that, when he is treated correctly, situations happen positively.

“The only reason we've had problems in the past is because you need to treat me right. I've been in this sport for a long time doing what I want, regardless of the result. I always come back stronger after my fights,” said the welterweight.

Finally, Nate spoke about his relationship with MMA and the way he views the sport in his life. The fighter stated that he cannot live without the adrenaline of fighting against an opponent in a professional fight.

“I think fighting is the best thing for me. It's weird, because it's a self-destructive fight, and it's self-destructive if I don't fight. Kill or be killed”, concluded Diaz.

At 34 years old, Nate has already performed 31 times as a professional athlete. The fighter won 20 and lost on 11 occasions.
