Kron Gracie complains about loss to Cub Swanson at UFC Tampa: 'I won that fight'

Rickson's son was unbeaten, but ended up succumbing to a strategy perfectly executed by his opponent this weekend. During the first round of the fight, it was clear that the North American's plans were to keep his distance from the Brazilian.

Swanson attacked, most of the time, on the counterattack, and walked backwards, keeping an eye out for any takedown attempt that could be applied by the Brazilian, whose main weapon, as expected, is jiu-jitsu.

Kron, however, surprised fans by accepting the frank exchange against an opponent with many more fights under his belt and, in theory, more qualified in stand-up fighting. Even though he showed a lot of resistance and courage, in striking, the Rio native ended up losing.

There were few takedown attempts by Kron. Cub, who had an obligation to win, as he had come from four consecutive defeats and with his contract at risk, took advantage of every opportunity to score against a younger opponent with visibly superior resistance.

After three rounds, the North American was declared the winner in a unanimous decision and was emotional in the interview given to Michal Bisping, who was the official interviewer of the event. In his speech, Swanson stated the respect he has for the 'Gracie Family'.

Kron, however, did not leave the Tampa event empty-handed. The meeting between the Brazilian and the North American earned the athletes the 'Fight of the Night' bonus. Each one earned US$50 thousand (around R$206 thousand).
