Deiveson Figueiredo proved, once again, why he is considered one of the main contenders for the men's flyweight title. This Saturday (12), on the preliminary card of the UFC Tampa, the person from Pará was not aware of Tim Elliott by submitting his rival at 3:08 of the first round with a fair guillotine choke, achieving his sixth victory in seven fights in the company. The American, who hadn't played since December 2017, lost for the third time in five fights since returning to Ultimate.

In the post-fight interview, Deiveson, third in the flyweight rankings, challenged the champion Henry Cejudo and the challenger Joseph Benavidez, the first on the list. “Hey, Dana! Hey Mick! The duel started off busy, with both athletes looking for the center of the octagon. With greater reach, Elliott risked some plastic strikes, but without effectiveness.
