The undisputed featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg.), Max Holloway, reported his desire to return to the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg) in the future. “100% chance. There's a future for me in the top category. And that. That first fight is not how you start a race. That’s how it ends,” said Max.

The 'Blessed', however, explained why he is no longer appearing in the top division. According to Holloway, the intention is not to delay the division in which he is champion. For him, keeping the category moving forward is important for the development of the sport.

“I was signed as a featherweight with a belt. I wouldn't want to keep holding people back and holding back the division. That's why I came back. If they want me back in the lightweight division, who knows?” said the featherweight champion.

In April of this year, when facing Poirier, Max showed that he is an athlete with extreme potential. Even though he was defeated by Dustin in the UFC 236, in a combat that would entitle the winner to face Khabib Nurmagomedov, the athlete gave the audience a real spectacle alongside his opponent. With the setback, the North American stated that he learned several lessons.

"I learned. Either you win or you learn and that's what we did. I learned a lot in that fight. I learned a lot about myself. I learned about my team and my coaches and we came back strong. We took everything we learned from that fight and brought it to the next fight (against Frankie Edgar) and you saw how it went”, concluded the athlete.

Max still has a commitment scheduled for the featherweight division. UFC 245, in December. On this occasion, the fighter will defend his belt for the fourth time. The fighter will face the last executioner of José Aldo, former division champion, Alexander Volkanovsky.
