The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion, conor mcgregor, again has his name linked to extra octagon themes. However, this time, the matter revolves around a past occurrence. The Irishman was finally charged with the attack on a man in a pub in Ireland in April this year. As a penalty, the athlete can face up to six months in prison and pay a fine of 1,5 euros (approximately R$6,69). The information was released by 'The Independent' and confirmed by 'ESPN'.

Needing to resolve his problem in court, McGregor was summoned to appear in court on October 11th. The maximum sentence issued by the judge, in the case of the fighter, can be six months or financial compensation of 1,5 euros. In the worst case scenario, Conor could be arrested and still face monetary punishment.

When the video was released in August, the situation caused a lot of embarrassment and outrage among MMA fans. In the images released, Conor appears serving doses of his brand of whiskey to some people in a bar and, when he realized that one of those present refused to accept, he delivered a cowardly and unexpected left blow, being immediately removed from the room.

Two weeks after the video containing the attack was released in the media, the Irishman gave an interview to Ariel Helwani, a reporter for 'ESPN', in which he tried to clarify the situation and accept all the blame before his fans.

“In reality, it doesn’t matter what happened there. I was wrong. That man deserved to enjoy his time at the pub without having it end the way it did. And even though it was five months ago, I tried to make amendments, and I made amendments then. But it does not matter. I was wrong”, said the 'Notorious' in a rare moment of humility.

Currently out of fights of his own free will, the Irishman has not performed since his defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov, at UFC 229, in October last year, when he lost the chance to regain his old lightweight title. Ultimate's board of directors and MMA enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the athlete's return to the Octagon. So far, no fight has been confirmed.
