With every hour that passes, the moment gets closer for the world to meet the absolute champion among the UFC middleweights. During the week of UFC 243, which takes place this Saturday, Israel adesanya (interim champion) has made statements about the ease in the challenge of facing Robert. The owner of the linear belt, however, in an interview with 'MMA Junkie', appeared calm and said he was not bothered by his rival's comments this weekend.

“(It doesn’t bother) at all. If this had gotten personal, I would have taken care of it personally. He's just selling the fight. He has been human. He has his own strategy and I'm happy for that. It takes a weight off my shoulders. I just can't be anyone other than myself. I’m doing the same thing I always do”, stated the linear champion.

The Australian was also asked about the fact that his opponent's attacks through the press somehow affect his preparation for the duel. Recently, Israel confessed its desire to confront Jon Jones in a super fight planned (by Adesanya) for 2021. Thinking about the possibility, the Nigerian would already be considering his triumph over Whittaker in advance.

“I find a lot of things he says funny. I have a good laugh about it all. So it didn't affect me. I'm looking forward to fighting him on Sunday (Saturday, in Brazil), because he's a good fighter, and what's more, he wants to face me”, concluded Robert.

In addition to the opportunity to once again become the division's absolute champion, Robert has another reason to celebrate. The athlete returns to the octagon after more than a year away due to injuries.

In February, the athlete should have faced Israel's last rival, Kelvin Gastelum, but ended up leaving the card at the last minute due to a hernia. Now, the athlete is fully recovered and ready to show that he is still in good shape.
