It could have been a Halloween prank, but it wasn't. Michael Bisping really surprised everyone by removing his prosthetic eye to show the public why he is often seen wearing sunglasses. The action ended up surprising comedian Luis J. Gomes, who was participating in the program 'Belive You Me', presented by the former middleweight champion.

“That's why I wore my dark eyes, boy!”, said Bisping, eliciting screams of astonishment from Gomes, as he put the prosthetic back in place.

According to Michael himself, the injury that resulted in the desire to use a prosthesis happened in 2013, when the athlete faced the Brazilian Vitor belfort in the fight that represented the main fight of the UFC Sao Paulo. At the time, Vitor was going through a great moment in his career and managed to deliver a devastating knockout to the Englishman after a shin kick that exploded on his opponent's head.

At the time, Belfort was using TRT, a procedure performed on men with a deficiency in testosterone production. Although it was legal, the method, which ended up being banned by Ultimate some time later, visibly altered the body of the 'Phenomenon', who had been reaching impressive levels of competitiveness.

After the confrontation with Vitor, Bisping claims that he lost a considerable percentage of the vision in his right eye. Because of this, Michael, who was defeated, always criticized the Brazilian and promised that he would never act against Belfort again, whom he considered a cheat. Bisping was one of the athletes who fought most in favor of the strictest policy regarding doping.

Even with his vision weakened, Michael continued to work within the UFC and even held a title, won in 2016, when he beat Luke Rockhold in the main fight of UFC 199. The athlete successfully defended his title on one occasion and ended up losing in the next duel, when he was beaten by Georges St-Pierre in November 2017.
