a request for Khabib Nurmagomedov It is not an order, but a factor to be considered by Ultimate. After defending his lightweight title and increasing his unbeaten run to 28 fights, the Russian once again requested a confrontation against Georges St-Pierre, former welterweight and middleweight champion. The Canadian stated that he is retired from MMA, but that, if they have an offer he cannot refuse, he is available for negotiations. The statement was made in a recent interview 'Helen Yee.Sports'.

“I'm retired, and retired for a reason. If anything comes up, the UFC knows where to find me, but right now, I'm fine where I am. I can not complain. Life is beautiful”, said the MMA legend.

With a real chance of putting on Ultimate gloves again, the athlete, however, showed that he respects the ranking and states that the next challenger to try to take Khabib's place should be Tony Ferguson, which comes from a recent victory over Donald Cerrone and has an undefeated streak of 12 wins.

“100% (the turn of) Tony Ferguson. I think it will be a good fight. I'm a big fan. I don't know who will win. It will depend on who best imposes their strategy. Tony likes to play dirty, using his elbows and knees. This is his style. Khabib, in turn, likes to control guys when they're on the ground, with him on top. This will depend on how it happens. Different styles are difficult to predict the result”, commented Georges.

St-Pierre hasn't fought since returning to MMA to face middleweight champion, Michael Bisping, in a confrontation that represented the main fight of UFC 217. On that occasion, the Canadian overcame the North American via submission in the third round and became yet another athlete to have won two Ultimate belts in different categories.

Having been out of action for almost two years, anyone who thinks that the 38-year-old athlete would need a long time to get in shape is mistaken. According to the former champion, he never stopped training and would be ready to go into combat if necessary.

“I'm always training. I don't go into training just because I have a fight. I train because I love training. I love being in shape and I keep learning more about mixed martial arts. I like to keep busy”, concluded the fighter.
